CO-FOUNDER & CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Alexandra Jacowitz, PsyD

Office: Brooklyn/Telehealth | Pronouns: She/Her

My name is Dr. Jacowitz (Ali) and I’m a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Co-Founder of P.S. Therapy. I help high-achieving, millennial women increase their overall mental health.

Oftentimes a symptom (i.e. a panic attack, insomnia, burnout) is just the tip of the iceberg. If you focus only on melting the tip of the iceberg, sooner or later the rest of the glacier will surface. In therapy with me, we focus on the whole icy land mass. This might sound intimidating; however, with relief from symptoms comes increased emotional bandwidth. You can use that bandwidth for whatever you want. Many of my clients use it to work therapeutically through the rest of their iceberg.

In addition to my work at P.S. Therapy, I consult with companies to improve company culture and decrease employee burnout. I have been featured as an industry expert in publications like The Cut, Club Mental, and Elite Daily. I’ve presented research at industry conferences like the Annual Convention of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Annual Meeting of the TMS Society. My peer-reviewed journal publications include the Journal for Experimental Psychopathology, Brain Stimulation: Basic, Translational and Clinical Research in Neuromodulation.

I hold doctorate and master’s degrees in clinical psychology from Widener University with a speciality in school psychology. I completed clinical training at The University of Pennsylvania Counseling and Psychological Services Center, Widener Partnership Charter School, among other inpatient and outpatient facilities. My Postdoctoral Fellowship was completed at Brooklyn Minds Psychiatry. I specialize in several evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks/agoraphobia, specific phobias and trauma, Behavioral Activation for depression, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for chronic pain, sexuality, and anxiety. I have advanced training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and CBT for Trichotillomania and Excoriation Disorder.
