Sam Patel, LMSW
Office: Brooklyn/Telehealth | Pronouns: She/Her
I’m Sam Patel, a compassionate and dynamic psychotherapist specializing in both child and adult therapy. My approach to healing and growth is eclectic, drawing from psychodynamic, relational, attachment-based, trauma-informed, and family systems therapies to offer a nuanced and integrative perspective.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tulane University and my master’s in clinical social work from the University of Chicago. My experience includes working with trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, eating disorders, and family relationships. I’m particularly passionate about supporting people of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Creating a safe and supportive environment for clients of all ages is central to my practice. Whether I'm working with children navigating their formative years or adults seeking to understand and transform their life experiences, I combine deep clinical expertise with a warm, empathetic presence.
One of my core strengths is blending humor and playfulness with therapeutic work. I believe that healing can be both profound and enjoyable, so I integrate elements of mindfulness, somatic awareness, and narrative therapy to help clients connect with their inner selves and build resilience. By encouraging clients to engage with their stories through curiosity and self-compassion, I help them uncover their strengths and create meaningful, lasting change.
